Safe Removal Of Unwanted Hair By Laser Hair Removal

The process of Laser Hair Removal started around 20 years ago, and started being used commercially around the middle of 1990’s. The dermatologists all over the world has accepted this technology as a safe removal, as well as, permanent method of removal of hair. The laser clinics are present all over the place nowadays, and there are certain devices that can be used to remove unwanted hair even at your home also. Every health magazine, and lifestyle magazine publishes some or the other news about the safety, latest procedures, and other such details about the different procedures of hair removal.

Permanent Hair Removal

The mode of action of the laser technology
In the process of Permanent Hair Removal, the laser treatment that is used is known as the selective photothermolysis (SPTL) where a particular wavelength of light is targeted to the particular area of the skin, while the surrounding skin is left unaffected. The laser beams are so programmed that they target the dark pigmented region of the skin, and that too particularly the melanin rich spots to stop the growth of the hair follicle completely. The laser lights are only absorbed by the dark regions of the skin, and that too with a fast speed and high intensity. The primary chromatophore that is present in the skin is the melanin, and in some required cases, artificial chromatophores are also induced in the skin. As there is selective absorption of light by the photons of the melanin, there is only absorption of laser beams by the brown and the black hair. The laser beams acts best in case of coarse dark hair, or in case of light skin with dark hair.

The kind of hair suitable for laser hair removal
It is natural to think that Permanent Hair Removal is only suitable for fine hair, but the truth is just the opposite. It has been observed that thick, coarse, dark hair is the most suited for laser therapy. It has been seen that dark people with fine hair do not experience much success in the laser hair removal. Continued procedures have shown that more the contrast between the skin and the hair color, the more is the rate of success of undergoing the treatment. The most important requirement for the laser beams to work effectively is by the presence of melanin, and the people with white hair do not achieve any success in the laser removal of hair. If the hair color is darker than the color of the skin, then the effect of the procedure is best noted. The laser treatment is also not suitable for tanned skin, and one has to wait for the tan to be completely removed, as otherwise there will be chances of burning your skin.

The sessions required for complete hair removal
Although the technique of Laser Hair Removal is very costly, but the best part is that only a few sessions are required to get the desired effect. Unwanted hair from the complete portion of the area that you want to get rid of hair can be done in one sitting only. You might have to come for a second or third session, if there is regrowth of hair on certain portions. The hair even if it regrows, is fewer and finer.

  5. It's generally not considered masculine for men to get laser hair removal done, but I think we'd all prefer our guys a little bit less hairy in some places.
